“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us together in perfect harmony”
– Colossians 3:14 (NLT)
Upendo means
“love”. This summer, a group
of 49 volunteers will be joining together
to share God’s love by running free medical, dental, optometry clinics
to serve the children of Mully Children’s Family (MCF) and people from the
villages surrounding MCF. In addition to
the health clinics, we will also be conducting leadership training and
participating in special projects to service the needs of MCF.
Mully Children’s Family is a Kenyan Christian humanitarian organization
founded and run by Dr. Charles Mulli. They seek out, rescue and rehabilitate
children from the streets of Kenya,
who have been abandoned, orphaned, often abused and infected or affected by
HIV/AIDS. MCF cares for over 2500+ children at a time and has helped over
10,000 people over the last 29 years.
In the short time since our team was assembled, it has been amazing to
see God’s hand at work in bringing us together.
Initially we were 2 teams. One
team consisted of 22 people with 2 dentists and 2 optometrists, but lacking in
medical doctors and pharmacists. The
other team was a group of medical doctors and pharmacists, with no dentists or
optometrists. Now, God not only merged
our teams, but also added to our numbers.
We are excited that we will be able to work together to provide a full spectrum
of healthcare with 4 doctors, 3 dentists, 3 optometrists (+1 optometry
student), 2 pharmacists and 4 nurses on our new team. Praise God for his faithfulness and
provision!
We look forward to sharing our journey with you through this blog. To those of you who have supported us in
prayer and financially, we are thankful and blessed by your love and support
for us. May you continue to see God’s
love in action as you follow us on our journey.
